Kathryn Sloat

Kathryn Sloat, “whose harp playing evoked the angels (Brooklyn Discovery),” is known for her work in opera and contemporary chamber music in New York City and throughout the United States. She is especially interested in the creation of new music and has participated in numerous premieres and commissioning projects, especially with her harp duo, Lilac 94. She has also created her own improvisation-based music, performing in collaboration with dancers at the Higher Ground Festival and as a soloist in artist residencies including Still Standing in New York City and at the Lakeside Inn in Michigan. Kathryn Sloat holds degrees in harp performance from the Crane School of Music, Eastman School of Music, and Mannes College of Music. When not playing the harp she loves to knit, read books, and climb mountains.
